I have to believe that Apple has been doing a MAJOR overhaul of the OS. The single icon on a page worked when it was only a few apps. Now that apps have exploded we need a new launcher, we need background apps that integrate information together. Apple may be slow in some regards but they aren't dumb, they know what to give people to keep them coming back for me.

Darn it!! I'm on vacation next week so I'll have to wait until I get back. This happened to me with 2.0 too!!!

It would be good to see MMS finally. I really don't have a need for it, but I know that a lot of others here have been clamoring for MMS since the introduction of iPhone v1.

How exciting. Just more to love in my phone. I am not due for a new subsidised price on a phone until 4/10, so I hope current iPhones will run the 3.0 well!

100% agreed with this. I think Apple is going to come back swinging rather hard with this one.

I would love a major overhaul. A new OS with a few new features like Copy & Paste, video recording, etc., would be great, but to see a totally re-worked OS would be even better. It also makes complete sense that this would happen seeing as Apple is openly saying that the event is scheduled for the 3.0 firmware, and as there's some fair competition now.

One thing though, and this may be a totally crazy idea (which I don't like at all); seeing them talk about the next OS so publicly makes me think; would it possible that because the 3G is selling pretty well right now, that only a new OS would be released, and not new hardware to accompany it? I doubt it, but if that ends up happening, I'll be ticked. I need a new iPhone.

that thought had crossed my mind as well, lincoln.

the only hope we have is that the discovery of the "iPhone2,1" entries in the OS refer to new hardware.

all ya gotta do is sell your current one and it should come pretty close to making up the difference between full retail and subsidised price.
