At first, the conference really didn't impress me all that much. But then, it was one great announcement after another. Landscape, search functions, full turn by turn GPS, streaming video for apps, MMS, and finally an app for diabetics. Who couldn't be disappointed?

The first half was an epic fail, nothing else. You should have seen us in IRC.

okay my question in a different way. Did the beta version on the previous 2.0 sdk allow you to use the phone or was the phone function disabled ?

What about themes, like jailbroken phones, we can create a them to make the iphone reflect yourself. i was thinking that they would allow at least background wallpaper behind your apps.

Where did you see the app for diabetics? Or were you just hypothesizing from the blood pressure talk? I'm diabetic and would love to sync blood sugar results to my phone or actually have a glucometer attachment like the old handspring visor did a few years ago.

No word on that - yet. Knowing Apple, it's very possible that there is theming, but they did not cover it at the Keynote.

New features: (there are more)

The developer beta is available TODAY. Full release is this summer - free to V1 & 3G users (also to new iPhone users, should there be a new iPhone), $10 for iPod touch users, Stereo Bluetooth and MMS will not work on V1 iPhone.

No word on video recording or theming.

Don't forget forwarding and deleting individual text messages, this is huge for many people.
