Now the good stuff. We've had two separate tipsters ping us with the rumors today, which Rose talked about last night during the live Diggnation show at SXSW in Austin.
The breakdown of unconfirmed rumors goes like this:

- Cut and paste in 3.0
- Users magnify or double tap a word to bring up cut and paste
- Pinch "boundaries" to select word(s); Rose called them "copy boundaries"
- Then you get option to cut, paste or copy

Also, the 3.0 update will have enough new features and additions to bring it up to the Palm Pre levels. Whatever Palm Pre has shown us so far, apparently, the iPhone will have too when 3.0 becomes official. That point remains a bit hazy right now, so anyone who was at Diggnation last night who can help elaborate a bit more would be awesome in my book.
Lastly, there will NOT be video, nor will there be MMS. Boo. This last point seems to contradict BGR's MMS rumor from the other day. [Thanks, Kyle and Abdul!]

These are just rumors of course. I wouldn't take this as anything more. What I don't understand about this Kevin Rose, is that he claims the reason for no video (according to his reliable sources) is because of technical issues, but if that is the case how come Cycorder works with no issues?

I'd take good copy and paste over MMS and/or video any day.

Oh yeah, totally. Me too.

I'm wondering how much of Mr. Rose's rumor is software and how much is hardware. Perhaps the 3.0 software won't have video support natively, but the new hardware might support it via an app? Just conjecturizing here.

I'm surprised that the both of you want copy & paste over video/MMS. I figured I was one of the last evangelical holdouts for copy & paste here on EiC.

I will be disappointed if there is no video, but perhaps Psylichon is right about the software vs. hardware. Regardless, there is always Cycorder if Apple decides not to incorporate video in this new version.

During a live taping of Diggnation, Kevin Rose revealed details about the expected "Copy and Paste" functionality coming in iPhone 3.0. World of Apple reports on the event with a link to a video of the moment (warning: strong language).

According to Rose, to invoke Copy and Paste, you simply double tap on the word, and a magnifier bubble will appear with two quotes that you can drag around your selection. Once you make your selection, you can copy, paste or cut. Rose has been accurate in the past with details about upcoming Apple product revisions. As well, we have also heard that Copy and Paste will be arriving in 3.0 alongside a much improved homepage/springboard with the ability to organize in categories.

Apple will be revealing iPhone 3.0 in detail on Tuesday, March 17th at a special media event.

Their video isn't the most professional. LOL. It makes me not put much stock in what they have to say.
