iPhone OS 3.0: It's available now!

I am really excited about the software release due today! But all I can do is sit and watch others download the final version of the OS 3.0. My iPhone is gone for service/replacement to the Apple place where they do that stuff. and I am not getting it back till 1 more week. So, just to be a part of all this excitement, and not to waste time downloading when I do get it back, I want to download the Update today. Will it be possible to do that without an iPhone? Will there be a download link?

It will be posted on the Apple site for download like it usually is. The link is always posted everywhere to be found. Check here for the official link when it's released http://www.apple.com/iphone/softwareupdate/

Anyone else tried to click on check for update and got the "The iPhone software update server could not be contacted."? I just tried a few times and got it every time I tried.

Figured I'd throw some lighter fluid on the fire that is everyone online today

I would try updating iTunes if you don't have the current version. If you already have it, uninstall iTunes and reinstall.

termleech, you're not getting out to the server at all.. I get that on my laptop when i'm not in range of any wifi..

Haha yea, it is indeed the filter at work. It thinks that downloading the update for the iPhone is "streaming media." Go figure. Oh well I fixed it
