Default Corrupt Backup (really need something off it)

Ok, i had to do a factory restore to my phone last night. Prior to restore, i did a 3+ hour backup. After that, i had 2 total backups. One from prior upgrade to 2.0.1 and the one before restore.

After restore, it solved the problem I was having. However after the sync, I didnt have ANY of my settings. Email setup, bluetooth setup, wifi setup, no pix that i took with the iphone directly, bunch of other nit noid stuff like what weather, stocks and timezones i check..

All of that was annoying to redo, but easily done.

However, the pix that I took with the Iphone I really want back.

Any way to get into the backup to extract those?

I assumed they were being synced with the other photos i had on there in the selected folders on my pc

Just curious about something. When iTunes was attempting to backup your phone did you ever click the X to abort the operation or were you always allowing it to complete the backup each time it attempted to do so?

i had two prior backups.

first one i did before the upgrade to 2.0.1
2nd one was before I did the "restore".

I have in the past hit the "x" button to skip a backup, b/c i dont need to do it every day.

Hence 3+ hour backups and corrupt files.

Sorry, I don't know how to extract the files. I was mainly curious about aborting the backup process as this seems to be creating a lot of havoc for people.

the other thread advised to do that so that it would not take as long to sync. I even followed the advice to delete all previous backups before doing the backup pre 2.0.1 OS upgrade...

I've never had a backup that took longer than 3 minutes on my 16GB Iphone 3G.....Am I the only lucky one?

When you setup your new phone, did you select the option to send diagnostic information to Apple? I opted out of that and decided not to send any information to apple. Maybe that's what keeps my backups so snappy.

You're not the only one. I've used the stop watch from my v1 phone a few times lately and my backups complete in less than 3 minutes.
