The only negative I foresee with this would be distortion. My 3GS speaker already distorts a little bit if I have the volume maxed out (could be my ringtone though. I'm rockin that song from Pineapple Express "All I wanna do is >BOOM BOOM BOOM< and a >CHA-CHING< and take ya money")

The first time I did it...I don't recall it counting down...but I have modified 3 devices now, and my total comes up 3 shy of 100 when I add what I have left and the devices I have already registered.

Seems the firmware is now 305MB versus the 286MB of the original 3.0betas. Wonder what is here?

I noticed that too. Give it a day or two until someone breaks it down, we might hear of something new being hidden in 3.1.

Now that the MMS icon is back, can anyone who had MMS working before (they are on a family plan or whatever) see if they can send MMS with the MMS icon back? I'm curious if the MMS settings are correct it's just still a matter of the opt out on the iPhone or if the MMS settings are wrong still.

I restored my 3gs as a new phone a couple of days after I got it, the 3.0 for the 3gs was the same size as the 3.1 beta. 3gs has more features, it's a bigger download. 3.1 for V1 and 3G are slightly larger than the 3.0 betas at about 239 and 240 MB.

I did the 3.1 beta update last night (3G, not 3GS) and Option-clicked "Check for Updates" (on MBP). Had no issues, all songs, videos, apps still intact after update.

Not much is known about what was changed but one thing I found is the sound alert when you do Find My Iphone plays at full volume regardless of the volume setting on the phone. Before the update, the alert volume seemed to follow the setting.

Also, when you tap and hold an icon to move it around the screen, you get a vibration alert.

Even though the carrier version went to 4.2, it still didn't enable any MMS or Tethering options in Settings.
