Yes the GM was no different from the official. They share the same version number of 7a341. That's why the GM seed didn't require the phones UDID to be registered with the apple developer servers. But since 3.1 is currently on beta you will need to have your UDID registered, although I have heard people were able to update to 3.1 beta without being registered I wouldn't recommend it unless you have a dev willing to offer you a spot just in case.

Of course you will and trust me you'll want it because when it comes out it will probably come with the support for mms from at&t we have been waiting for.
