My phone is unlocked and jailbroken. I don't have wifi or any sorts of wireless access. What programs can I use to install apps from my pc to my iphone 2.2.1?

You can install apps smaller than 10mb over 3G by clicking the App Store icon. Otherwise, go to the apps store in iTunes on your computer and download them there. When you sync your phone, it will install them onto it. You can also use the Cydia app on the phone to install apps.

The new updated directions and quickpwn file worked like a charm. Tried back in Feb and had no luck. Addicted Jailbreaker now.

Also although the "new how to" lists all models of iphones and ipod touches...I found the 2G ipod touch(2.2.1 Firmware with the "A" at the end)could only be JBeed with QuickFreedom. Which worked very well.

When I tried that, it was searching for a wifi connection. Can I use Cydia through my PC?

You have no free Wifi connections where you live??

Starbucks Mickey D's?? They are everywhere here.

You might be able to use Openssh or maybe iphone browser and put the repos in there manually.

I have a quick and simple question, I hope. I jail broke and had NO problems. Usually when I want to delete an application I will hold down on the app, then I can delete the app (when downloaded from itunes) but apps I get from Cydia I do not know how to delete. Anyone know a simple way to delete them? TIA!!

Chris

easiest way is to download cydelete in cydia. That will let you delete cydia apps like any other app. You can find it under bossprefs. Or look for it under search. If you don't want to do it that way then go into manage in cydia and tap "packages" , find the cydia app and uninstall from there!

Default NOOBIE Instructions

Obviously instructions are abundant. However, being a complete noob to 3G jailbreaking & unlocking, & just now found the joy of a free iPhone 3G, thought I'd share my experiences for other NOOBIES ONLY:

1-2-3 STEP-BY-STEP (Literally) JAILBREAK & UNLOCK IPHONE 3G FIRMWARE 2.2 (NOT 2.2.1) for WINDOWS (PC):

*** DISCLAIMER: USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! *** (Also, please see KUDOS below)

- MAKE SURE YOU HAVE WIFI AVAILABLE (and the password to connect to it)

- AT ALL TIMES LEAVE YOUR IPHONE PLUGGED IN TO USB TO PC

- USE YOUR ORIGINAL SIM CARD WHILE JAILBREAKING & UNLOCKING

- Follow iClarify instruction to download firmware "iPhone1,2_2.2_5G77_Restore.ipsw" (NOT 2.2.1!) and "QuickPwn-225-2.zip" into an easy-to-find folder & unzip (which will extract QuickPwn.exe & README.txt)

STEP 1: JAILBREAKING

- In iPhone, email all NOTES to yourself (NOTES will NOT be backed-up by iTunes)

- Plug in iPhone, run iTunes, *** DO NOT UPDATE FIRMWARE!!! ***

- In iTunes in iPhone (under DEVICES), "SYNC" all Contacts / Photos / Applications / Audio & Video Media

- In iTunes right click iPhone, click "BACKUP" (just to be sure)

- In iTunes in iPhone, go to HOME, RIGHT-CLICK "RESTORE", browse to easy-to-find folder, select "iPhone1,2_2.2_5G77_Restore.ipsw", click "OPEN"

- After iTunes is done, *** DO NOT "Set Up Your iPhone" (yet) *** (u don't want to waste hours if something goes wrong & u need to redo)

- Launch QuickPwn.exe (in the easy-to-find folder), follow instructions, when prompted "browse for firmware", click the same ipsw (in the easy-to-find folder), follow the rest of QuickPwn (& iClarified) instructions.

- JAILBREAKING COMPLETE!

STEP 2: UNLOCKING

- In iPhone, ignore any messages, click HOME button > "Settings" > "General" > "Auto-Lock" > set to "Never" (so it doesn't shut down in the middle)

- Click back to "Settings" > "Wi-Fi" > connect to your wifi (enter correct password if required)

- Click HOME button, launch "CYDIA" which will download & install some critical updates. If Cydia closes, just keep relaunching. Also install everything in "CHANGES", until Cydia stays open

- in Cydia click "MANAGE" (bottom right) > "SOURCES" (big middle button)

- (An update to iClarified instruction Cydia now installs "APT9.YELLOWSN0W.COM" automatically. Click it, and install "YELLOWSN0W"

- *** Note: if it's not available / only a white page showing, DON'T PANIC. U might wait & try again, or check messages in Dev-Team blog. For instance, instructions as of last night was to install Yellowsn0w from http://apt9.ihazsupper.com (in Cydia > Manage > Sources > Edit > Add > enter "http://apt9.ihazsupper.com" > "Add Source" > Done > apt9.ihazsupper.com > Yellowsn0w *** )

- After Yellowsn0w installs, go back to Cydia home page, exit to iPhone home page, shut iPhone down (hold top Power button)

- Count to 10, insert new 3rd Party SIM, restart iPhone

- UNLOCKING COMPLETE!

STEP 3: RESTORING BACKUP

- Re-launch iTunes, *** DO NOT UPDATE FIRMWARE!! *** (Just Say No!)

- click iPhone, click "Restore from backup of" & choose today's backup file (or "Set up as a new iPhone" if u want a clean slate)

- Google various Cydia & Installer applications, install & enjoy

- Don't forget to re-set "Auto Lock" back to 1 or 2 minutes & unplug iPhone

- DONE!

- Last reminder: from now on *** DO NOT UPDATE FIRMWARE!! *** whenever you sync iPhone 3G (until OK'd by Dev-Team)

KUDOS:

- Dev-Team, iClarified, this forum, Cydia (Microsoft?!), usual blogs, etc. etc.

I'm running into problems Jailbreaking my iPhone 3G (2.2.1 firmware). I downloaded Quickpwn using the link on the first post. When I run Quickpwn it asks me to connect my phone, I do. Then it asks me for the IPSW bundle. I go to browse and find the file, but Quickpwn won't let me type in the name of the file nor will it do anything when I double click the file. I can't go any further until I input this information. Any suggestions?
