ok so i'm completely new to all of this; i'm going to try the jailbreak option but can anyone tell me if i will be able to find apps to let me do the following things and if so can you please tell me the names of the apps to look for once i have quick pawn on my phone. 1. i need something that allows me to open multimedia messages directly from my text msgs ie view pictures or listen to audio clips without going to the at&t view my msg site; 2. send pictures or audio files via multimedia messages to other cell phones without having to email the data. 3. convert existing mp3s on my phone into ringtones without paying apple to do it. If i already have the songs I don't see why I should have to pay to make it my ringtone. And last but not least record videos i'm assuming cyrocoder is what i'd get for this, but please correct me if wrong. thanks guys any help would be sooooo appreciated.

Just to get the terminology right, JB'ing won't install QuickPWN on the phone. It's a computer program used to JB the phone and install Cydia on it. Use Cydia to install the new apps.

SwirrlyMMS (you may need to call AT&T to get it working).
Cycorder - Free and works great.

I use the free Windows program called iRinger to create ringtones. I think you can use Garage Band if you have a Mac.

You can also get Winterboard to customize the phone, PdaNet to tether the phone and use it's 3G connection on your laptop, Qik to stream live video, and MXtube to save YouTube videos to the phone, just to name a few.

just jb'd my iphone 3g but some weird things happend.
1. 3g and ATT on top line went away, and signal dropped from full down to 1
2. not internet connectivity at all
i used qwkpwn and followed all instructions. the cydia and installer icons appeared and worked but maybe i missed something. i went back to restore and everything is working like it used to.
any tips?

Yes, as a previous posted recommended, iRinger is a great (and free) way to do just that. It is for a PC (XP or Vista).

I suppose anything is possible. I, personally, have not heard of bricking an iPhone 3G as a direct result of jailbreaking. You can always revert back to stock OS if you ever need to return it to Apple for hardware warranty repair (or for any repair or if you want to sell it in the future).

I have a couple of questions.

1) If I do Jail Break the phone, will I loose my current contacts that I have on the phone?

2) FOUND THE ANSWER ON THIS ONE - When you Jail Break, does it actually unlock the phone to other networks (t-mobile)?

Problem with springboard on my iphone after installing iblank on cydia! After installing it i found a invinsible icon that did nothing! It attempted to go into safari but didn't work! Now when i try to delete the icon it won't delete! Infact i can't delete any icon or app! I get a error message saying that my springbroad has crashed and it might be due to something that was installed or removed!!! Any imput from any body please respond to my message or send a private message! Thanx!!!
