Default Unlocked 3G iPhone

Hi
I am thinking of getting a iPhone 3G when it comes out. If I got one and had it unlocked and jailbroken, would I still be able to use 3G? Would it work properly?

Thanks

Of course, what you are describing has nothing to with the bandwidth.

So if I put my Vodafone SIM in it I can browse using 3G? I thought the service would only be available with a contract.

I can't answer that. Your question was;

If I got one and had it unlocked and jailbroken, would I still be able to use 3G? Would it work properly?

And the answer to that is yes.

3G is a signal not available by all service providers so it depends on which you are using first. 2nd you have to get the new iPhone unlocked also and since the public doesnt have it yet, we dont know.

With the new iPhone 3g you will have to activate in in store.

So, yes you can unlock the phone, but you will need a contract from AT&T in the USA to own the phone in the 1st place.
