Default Recently Jailbroke My Phone .. Now Battery Life is Miserable .. Please help

Ok, I am very new to the whole jailbreaking scene. Earlier last week I used blackra1n to jailbreak my 8gb iPhone 3G with 3.1.2 ... Ever since I did the jailbreak, my battery life is terrible .. On a full charge I will be down to 20 percent battery around 12-14 hours later!! I cant even get a full work day out of a 100 percent charge .. I am going to list the current apps I have downloaded and I am running, I downloaded Cydia .. I had winterboard but deleted it because I heard this could be the reason for my battery issues, but that didnt really help .. Also i have 3g on, wifi off, bluetooth off, and push email on for a yahoo account .. my jailbroken apps running are five icon row, five icon dock, sb settings, categories, make it mine, boss paper, font swap, status notifier .. can anyone help, i mean i love what jailbreaking has opened up for me but if i cant get better battery life without having to turn off 3g and turn brightness completely down then i am just gonna have to restore back to the factory phone, which i really dont want to do .. i appreciate all the help , thanks , stephen

First of all, Welcome to EiC!

Did you first restore your iPhone in iTunes and then set up as new device so that you have a completely clean factory phone with no apps or anything installed? If no, I would recommend starting over from scratch and set up as a new device. Once the firmware is restored and you iPhone is back to bone-stock, then try running blackra1n. I haven't used blackra1n yet but I know from previous jailbreaks that jailbreaking without restoring first has caused battery issues amongst others. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I have read in here before that jailbreaking will decrease your phones battery a little. Also, Since you jailbroke your phone I am sure that you are using it a lot more to modify, show off to people, add functionality, etc. which will use the battery more. I have the same problem but I have learned to carry my charger with me to work and such.

It really depends on you usage hours which you can check in settings.

I gave up worrying about battery life.

Now I have a charger at work, in the car, on every computer, on the nightstand, etc. I just plug the phone in whenever I am going to be in one spot for a while. The phone recharges very quickly.

I bought a 3 pack of chargers from Ebay for $5.49 shipped to my door. Included a car charger, wall charger and a 6' USB cable. To my surprise, all work very well.
