    Btw, I am having a similar problem to a couple other people with syncing. When I go to the ringtones tab in itunes on my iphone it shows the 3 ringtones I made with this guide. However if I select sync ringtones, none of them get put on my iphone. I have tried several ways and none of the syncing works. If I drag a ringtone from the itunes ringtone list to my iphone it will put it on there and it works fine. But if I drag more than one, it just copies the same ringtone over so it would say;
    Custom:
    Audiomp3
    Audiomp3
    Audiomp3
However in itunes it shows all three ringtones being on the ringtones list of my iphone.

I've had the same problem and still can't get it to work.

Maybe someone can help. Under the Summary and Ringtone's tab, what items do I need to have checked? Also, the ringtones I made, do I need to put them on the "ringtone" folder on my iphone tab?

From iTunes. After you covert the file, it places that file in your itunes library, so you have the original song and the converted copy. When you drag a copy to the desktop or wherever you are going to place it, you rename it, and then you delete the converted file that you dragged to the desktop. That leaves the original copy of the song that you will have to change back to full length from the 30 second clip, and the ringtone on your desktop. I place the ringtone file in my ringtone library and play it from there.

I stumbled upon this forum trying to figure out how to get free ringtones, i followed all the steps exactly and at first the ringtones did not sync to my iPhone. after tinkering with the sync functions and check marks on both the ringtones tab under devices from the iPhone and the ringtones file with the bell next to it from the library section they appeared on my iPhone. I ran the sync about 10 times or so and i am not sure how i got the the ringotones on my iPhone. I have iTunes 7.6 and i'm running 1.1.3 on my iPhone. Does anyone know exactly what happened while I was messing with iTunes?

I have no clue what has happened. At least you got your ringtones though! Have you made any others that have had any problems?

i havent tried since then, im telling a few friends about the process and ill make another post on how that goes. I'll also try adding more ringtones to see what i did exactly to get it on there, maybe i just had to sync it a bunch of times for it to actually work...

custom ring tones for your iphone - iTunes Version 7.6.1.9

    iTunes Version 7.6.1.9
how to make custom ring tones for your iphone.
i've done this over 40 times, yes i have that many ring tones.

Follow This Step By Step And You Should Have No Problem At All.

    1. Select song you want to make into a ring tone,
your going to cut this in iTunes.

    2. click the song, high lighting it, it should be blue now.
then left click on your mouse, the click "get info"

    3. click the "options tab" -> set the start/stop time
(remember to keep the total time under 30 seconds"->click "Ok"

    4. Now left click again on your mouse, this time go down about
six columns under the "get info" and click "convert selection to ACC"

THIS IS WHERE EVERYONE MESSES UP, SO PAY ATTENTION!

    5. the 30 second clip you just picked and converted to ACC format will appear as if its still the whole song, don't think it didn't work, it did!
it appears its the same but -- its not. go to your library, click the music column and then in the right hand side of iTunes click your search column
search the song you cut and made into acc format by typing it in the search colum it will appear and look at the time, it will come up with the full song and another one that says 30 seconds under the time.

    6. from here drag the 30 second clip (from itunes) into your ringtone folder (don't confuse this with an iTunes playlist)

    7. single click the file in it's new location, click again, now change the ending from .m4a to .m4r
-you'll be asked to use .m4r or .m4a, obviously go with the former

    8. go back into iTunes and delete the 30 second clip. When iTunes asks, delete it to the trash (important)

    9. double click the newly created .m4r file in the ringtone folder, it should open in the ringtones playlist in iTunes.

    10. connect iPhone and sync, enjoy.

-remember to uncheck the start and stop times of the original mp3

Using only itunes!!! Follow my easy instructions, btw this is for pc users only!
You may want to have this page open while your creating your own...

    1. Open control panel on windows, (usually its under the start menu)

    2. Switch to classic view and select folder options

    3. Click the view tab and uncheck the box that says "Hide extensions for known file types."

    4. Opening iTunes, select the song you would like to use, right click/get info and select the options tab to find the start/end times

    5. Change the start and end times to make a 30 second portion of the song. And then play the song to make sure that's the portion you want for a ringtone.

    6. Right click on the song and convert to AAC

    7. Drag the new 30 sec long song to your desktop (I used the ringtone folder in iTunes instead because I didn't want to clutter my desktop)and rename .m4a to .m4r (if you use the desktop like iRobert suggested it would have to stay there in order to be located, thats why I changed it to the ringtones folder. I would suggest doing it this way, so you can keep your iTunes in order.)

    8. Make sure you delete the 30 second song out of your music library... B4 continuing

    9. Doubleclick the new .m4r file on ur desktop 100% free ringtone! Now sync your phone...

    10. Go back to the original song, right click, get info, change the song length back to it original length. If you dont do this your song will only be 30 seconds long next time you listen to it.

This has only been tested by me, on itunes 7.6 and 1.1.3 software.

That was pretty much pasted, but I have tried this as well and it works. Enjoy.......you deserve it!!!
