Default Jailbreak or unlock!
i kno this may be a stupid question but i am confused...i have an iphone 3g and when im able i want to be able to get installer.app on my iphone...but i still want to stay with AT&T and my normal plan...so do i just unlock it or do i just jailbreak it (when it comes out)?

any help greatly apppreciated

Jailbreak it! Jailbreak is for third party apps, and unlock is for carriers other than AT&T.

Go to blog.iphone-dev.org and download Pwnage. When it asks if your iPhone is legit, click yes to skip the unlocking stage.
