I thought that is wierd, so i put it on the settings > sounds menu and resynced. after the first sync the ringtones are there, but after it flashes the second time then they were gone.
I resynced again. this time i waited for the first synce to be done and then quickly removed my phone from the cradle before it had time to flash again.
It worked.
Any ideas how i can get around having to do this every time. Is there a setting somewhere I'm missing?

are you coping the files from the first location or moving them....?
it seems strange that it would sync twice....
in /var/Ringtones, you should have all your stock ringtones there also...do you see that?
also the file names when you sync in itunes are changed in /var/mobile/media/itunes_control/ringtones.....they should be a four letter file name
EX: KYKS.m4r is what it should look like....yours is going to be different...
copy, leave it there...then paste that same file in /var/ringtones...dont sync...disconnect ssh...reboot iphone...
check in sounds to see if the file appeared....you can rename that file in /var/ringtones to what ever after...
it should work...as to why it disappears when you sync...not sure...i jailbroken using ziphone...i have no experience with iliberty...
p.s. this may sound dumb...but make sure all your ringtones are coming from one folder and not from here and there on your computer....i think itunes has a specific folder that ringtones have to be in....
