Jailbroken 8G 3G iPhone
ATTENTION! I found out how to get it working, and it's a stupidly simple fix. I tried 10+ times, and would get the frozen while "running" error everyone else has had. I'm not promising this will fix everyones issues, but this got me past the "USB -> iTunes" icon stage where it sits forever.
Simple solution: Have iTunes running.
My specs:
iPhone 3G, Firmware 3.1.2
Windows XP SP3
1) Connect iphone to computer via USB
2) Launch iTunes and minimize it
3) Launch Blackra1n and click the "make it rain button"
4) iTunes will most likely give you an error, just click "ok"
5) Enjoy! Worked instantly for me.
Before this method, I would have iTunes closed and it would just hang on the "USB -> iTunes" forever. The moment I tried the process with iTunes running it worked perfectly. Hope this helps.

Saw this on Twitter:
cydiaupdates anyone that is having troubles with blackra1n, this just in. do you have a passcode lock on? if so, try turning it off
Mine didn't say that, but it said something about iTunes and missing drivers. I just ignored it as well and it was fine.

GRRRRRRR ok this is what i do....plug the phone in..itunes openes....i close it then open blackrain....and click make it rain....and for some reason IT DOESNT RAIN lol...it just keeps saying running and shows the itunes thing on my screen...and if i leave itunes on and dont close it it says my phone is in recovery and i have to restore it...but i just click ok and still nothing happens just says running
Thanks, got it after 2 attempts
I can't remember what the error was, but the only option on the box was "ok" ... I just clicked ok and re-minimized iTunes.
I've heard this as well, I do have a password lock too. I "logged in" to my springboard prior to running blackra1n though.
