Help... Mail down can somone explain this solution.....

Member x666x was nice enough to post this fix but I dont understand it... I SSH into my phone via WinSCP... and then what?? How do you change the owner? And what does Enter in terminal: chown -R mobile/var/mobile/library/mail mean? Thanks!!

Mail Application Doesn't Launch
Problem: Launching the Mail application shows you a white screen and then closes.

Solution: Change the owner of /var/mobile/Library/Mail from "root" to "mobile"

Enter in Terminal: chown -R mobile /var/mobile/Library/Mail

For that, no.

WinSCP's terminal is basicallly Term-vt100, only remotely.

so if you type something in term for iPhone, and the same thing on WinSCP, (reboot, for instance) itll happen with the same speed, exactly.

this has been working for people too, just go in your ssh locate the mail folder and set permissions to 777 make sure you hit the reciprocate button or go and set permissions for the actual app too.

I couldn't dwnload term-vt100 "package download failed" ..... so I ssh'd it through WinSCP and changed mail folder to 777 and now it works!!!!!
