Yeah, I hate DFU. The "Dev Team" really needs to find another method to jailbreak. It took me around 120 tries to get there.

I totally agree. Does it absolutely have to be in DFU mode?

Any tips on getting it into DFU mode again? I'm gonna mess around with it a bit more this afternoon when I get home from work. I tried to get it into DFU this morning but the bugger just didn't want to do it. When I did the initial unlock/jailbreak a couple days ago it only took me a couple of tries. I don't get it.

It's weird how these methods wig out YouTube and Yahoo e-mail. When I first unlocked/jailbroke 1.1.4 with ziphone YouTube was wacked out and Yahoo e-mail wouldn't work, either, and now I'm getting the same thing with Pwnage. I have no idea how the two are linked but I'm hoping that getting the YouTube activator thing going will automagically fix the Yahoo e-mail issue. We shall see.

I am otherwise enjoying 2.0.1 after being on 1.1.4 basically the whole time I've had my iPhone (about six months now). Cydia and AppStore are fun. Once I get all my most important functions back it'll be nice.

Unofrtuantlty, one can't really give tips on DFU. I Googled it billions of times, and the only thing I really found was to follow the timed instructions in Pwnage. However, I didn't end up in DFU by following that method. Once the IPSW is created, you're really done. I got in with my phone unplugged by shutting it off and holding the power + home buttons as soon as the screen went black. The phone would boot a few seconds later, and then the screen went black. At that point I let go of home and kept power held for maybe 30 seconds. I then docked the phone and iTunes told me it was in recovery mode.

Remember that DFU is the blank, black screen. The USB cord pointing to the iTunes logo is not DFU. You won't be able to pwn in this mode, however, you will still have to Restore and start over again.

Side note, I HATE Installer. It's so unstable and poorly built.

OK. I'll give that a try. I'm sure it's user error on my part with the DFU thing.

Yeah, Cydia seems way better than Installer. I tried it on 1.1.4 but something caused me to ditch Cydia previously. I don't think I will need Installer again.

I will update later after I have tried getting into DFU again.

Aha! I figured out my user error with DFU mode and now I'm back to it. Yay! I'm sure this will go just fine and hopefully the YouTube issue will be no more.

Sweet. It's all good now. YouTube works. Back to it now.

Thanks for the help, Lincoln.

So with cydia..what useful application can be used on 2.o or later? i ask because i have delayed migration and still on 113 and have no issues with anything. whats the value in migrating to 2.0? just curious as i have not heard alot of positives yet..
