Default Getting ready to unlock/jailbreak my new Iphone 2g please help!

Hello, I got my new to me Iphone 2g today and I am getting ready to unlock/jailbreak it. Can I hook it up to the same Itunes that I hook my Ipod Touch to? I am going to restore it like the directions say to do and I don't want it to mess something up with my Itouch since I buy songs on there sometimes. Thanks!

If you're looking to install the iPhone 3.0 software and have it jailbroken/unlocked, you cannot do this yet. Please follow the Dev Team's Blog (http://blog.iphone-dev.org/) and they'll update when the jailbreak/unlock is released. For a 2G iPhone, QuickPWN will do it all for you (http://www.quickpwn.com), but again, QuickPWN has not been updated to work with the 3.0 software yet...

QuickPWN 2.2.5-2 requires iTunes 8.1 to work properly. Using iTunes 8.2, you run the risk of it not working. Straight from their page...

Check a third-party torrent site or something. You won't find it on Apple's website...

Horrible idea IMO. The main drawback to jailbreaking is that it makes the Apple updates more time consuming to get (many people would say lag but I don't even notice it). With non JB phones, when an update comes out, you just download and install it. The process is painless and takes less than a half an hour. All your media and settings stay on the phone.

Once you JB, the process kind of becomes a PITA. Now you first have to restore to factory setting. Then do the update, sync all your media back on, put your settings back in, rejailbreak, re download all your JB apps. Not necessarily difficult, just tedious and time consuming. When I updated to 2.2.1, the entire process took about 3 hours. Most of that time was DL'ing and setting back up my JB apps.

So, basically I like to do this as little as possible. Apple comes out with a new FW every couple months and the pros of JB outweight the cons for me, and I don't mind doing it every couple months, but going through this process today, for 2.2.1, when the JB and unlock for 3.0 (a huge update) is coming out tomorrow is insane IMO. I would just wait.

I tried to stay on 2.2 as long as possible since I didn't want to go through the hassle of updating to 2.2.1, but eventually I was forced to due to incompatibily issues. Eventually, nothing works right on the old FW.

What if I am not going to put any music or any apps on it today? I won't have anything I have to reload will I if I don't have anything on it?

Kaba I found a download.

Thanks for the help guys.
