Horrible idea IMO. The main drawback to jailbreaking is that it makes the Apple updates more time consuming to get (many people would say lag but I don't even notice it). With non JB phones, when an update comes out, you just download and install it. The process is painless and takes less than a half an hour. All your media and settings stay on the phone.
Once you JB, the process kind of becomes a PITA. Now you first have to restore to factory setting. Then do the update, sync all your media back on, put your settings back in, rejailbreak, re download all your JB apps. Not necessarily difficult, just tedious and time consuming. When I updated to 2.2.1, the entire process took about 3 hours. Most of that time was DL'ing and setting back up my JB apps.
So, basically I like to do this as little as possible. Apple comes out with a new FW every couple months and the pros of JB outweight the cons for me, and I don't mind doing it every couple months, but going through this process today, for 2.2.1, when the JB and unlock for 3.0 (a huge update) is coming out tomorrow is insane IMO. I would just wait.
I tried to stay on 2.2 as long as possible since I didn't want to go through the hassle of updating to 2.2.1, but eventually I was forced to due to incompatibily issues. Eventually, nothing works right on the old FW.
