before buying iphone read this first - Page 2

I just checked and I do have 04.01.13_G as my baseband, and NOT 03.14.08_G. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN though??? I know the baseband is the modem (fequency?) but what difference does it make? PLEASE HELP solve this mystery(for me anyways)...!!!

ooohh.. i just bought one this afternoon with a hope that its gonna be a 1.0.2 version, but it is 1.1.1. Now I think Im gonna return it, and maybe buy another one.. Im planning to go into the store and ask them to get me an iPhone that has the serial number smaller than xxx39xxxxxxx.. Hopefully they will cooperate.. wish me luck

man, your detailed instructions totally worked!.you're my hero!

my 1.0.2 iphone is usable with my t-mobile sim. now i have a question... with my blackberry pearl, my service says edge. when i insert my sim into my iphone, and hit the safari browser, it say "edge required. you have not subscribed to edge" or something similar. why is that? is there a setting i can change to be able to use everything on my iphone?

Assume you have the full internet subscription on tmobile already since you are using the blackberry pearl.

You need to go to setting - network - edge and change the
APN : wap.voicestream.com
username : leave it blank
password : leave it blank

Then go to setting - toggle the airplane mode on and off.

now i need to know how to upload pics and music from my win xp computer onto my iphone.. is there a way i can outsmart itunes and use itunes?.. or is there a better suggestion that has nothing to do with itunes?

I used iBrickr and PACAY to activate my iphone, which I downgraded from 1.1.1 to 1.02. I am using it as the proverbial expensive iTouch.

I did NOT, however, unlock the phone. What will happen if I upgrade to1.1.1 - will it brick my iPhone? Will it force me to "activate" it again? Thanks!

We're both lucky hackers! i did the same stupid thing 2 weeks ago and downgraded back to 1.0.2. The pay-as-you-go SIM card finally worked 5 days after I installed it. everything's fine now. I will NOT upgrade to 1.1.1 again until I read further discussions.
