App Backup
What app backup do you recommend to createan easy-to-use backup solution for my 3gs should i ever need to restore? In Cydia, I have seen 3 - one is $2.49, the other 2 are free - are they any different? can't quite see the differences.

I don't like this option because it requires use of an iTunes backup. I always restore to factory settings before rejailbreaking. PkgBackup is a better option IMO.

So how does that work if you restore to new?

PkgBackup stores its data in your Contacts. When you sync your iPhone, your contacts are synced to your computer along with the backup data. Once you restore, you can resync your contacts, jailbreak, install PkgBackup again and restore your Cydia apps. It works really well for me.

I agree, thats what I do after a restore because I dont like the idea of restoring from a back-up. Especially if I had problems.

Oh, well I use google to sync my contacts, not itunes, so that won't work for me.

It would work, when you add a new contact on your phone it syncs to google if you have set it up right. So, when you restore and sync your contacts, that contact will be there ready to sync your JB apps.

What about the Rock built-in option. Has anyone used it recently?
I just set up a Rock login account and forced a backup.
Is this all I need to restore JB apps or is Pkgbackup still needed?

I've used Rock's back up to restore my current jailbreak. It worked just fine.

Yeah, that is how I have it set up. So you are saying that the app acts like a contact and backs up all my stuff that way? I am a little confused on how it exactly works I guess. Sorry.
