adding new battery icon to customize

I know that to add a new battery icon to the Customize app i'm supposed to download the icon images (.png's) and use WinSCP to put them in var/root/Library/Customize/Battery Images. I've done that a few times now, and every time I open Customize and go to the battery icons the new icon is in there except all 17 icon images(.png's) are there and when I select one the new icon won't show up on the charging screen. How do I get the new icon to show up as just one image in Customize like my original and "fire" icons so I can select it and it will work? I'm sorry to ask kind of an old question but I know that people have been switching their battery icons for a while now, so someone else must have had this problem before. If anyone can help and let me know what i'm doing wrong i'd really appreciate it.
