Yep, you can snap the case so that it stays back. I should have taken a pic of that. The strap does cover the port but there is a few mm gap on the sides where dust can still reach but its still protected from large objects like coins ect. You can see what I mean

Is there a place for your belt loop or a clip so it stays on your belt?

They normally come with a belt clip but I ordered mine without one since I carry mine in my pocket.
