desperately needed a lanyard so I made one for my phone. better than replacing a broken LCD from dropping it. I feel a lot safer. let me know if the link doesnt work. it did involve disassembly and drilling so think twice before you attempt
Thats a great idea just wish I had the nerve to drill a hole in my iPhone
thanks...there isn't a lot of room in there to do it. i should have documented the process but I actually wanted to discourage people from taking apart their iphones. at the same time I really wanted to protect my phone from all the damage that can occur from a 3 foot drop. My treo survived about 100 drops but i don't feel as safe with the iphone. I dropped it once already but luckily it was on carpet. so really guys and gals, if you want to do it make sure you have the proper tools and the patience and the willingness to accept that you could easily break the phone and not have warranty coverage.
wow. i can't believe you drilled a hole in your iphone. you are braver than i am. if i needed a lanyard that badly, i'd just get one of the new vaja cases that has lanyard built-in already...

i knew I HAD to do it. putting a case on an iphone is like putting a full length trench coat on jessica alba when she is wearing a bikini. it's just something you don't do to something so beautiful. i knew what I had to work with when I opened the case and I have done millions of mods to my 3 of my $3,000.00 mackbooks and powerbooks so I was never worried about destroying anything personally. but for those of you who have not done mods then think carefully and make sure you know what you are doing. i haven't dropped my phone since and it's great holding jessica alba in a bikini in the palm of your hand. haha!!!!
I wound up using a squeezable cord lock to secure the end. This avoids the need for epoxy, and I suppose makes it adjustable. Wearing the iPhone makes it easier to control while listening to the iPod. I don't know how well a similar lanyard might work around the wrist.
