The aluminum case however might render the phone unusable. It is the very reason that the bottom third of the back is plastic, so that the phone antennae will function. Then again, I see that on this very site, there is a supplier of an aluminum iPhone case. Hmmm.
Billet metal cases are common for Ipods. Just go into near any dune buggy or offroad auto supplier and see a variety of them designed to mount on the roll cages. I doubt you'll see ones that work with the phone, but maybe the iPod touch.
even on the ipod touch, there is a little corner of the same black plastic for the wifi antenna.
