Sounds like ur friend may have gotten the 2.2.2 update and now it won't work! Or they have it and they haven't turned on their emoji! 

Couple of questions, because I'm starting to get confused with what is happening when people are updating to or have 2.2.1.

1. If I have "frostyplace" in 2.2 firmware and update to 2.2.1, will I lose the emoticons?
2. If I send a text to a non-iPhone, like a blackberry or an LG, or a Palm, will they still show up, or is this iPhone exclusive?

Yes, they will stay in 2.2.1, and yes it's only for iPhones..

Thanks again. Why do you think it won't work with other carriers or phones? Is it because the iPhone is sending it as a text character and not as a picture?

These Emoji's is small codes that only the iPhone can read - what I know of!

And yes it would be great to use these on other phones/e-mails, as 1 Emoji are telling more than 10 words...

my wifey had frosty place before she updated it and her emoji stood on the phone! I think its the other way around! I updated before i got frosty place and it didn't work! I now have the app "typing genius" and its much better cause you can use the app to learn how to type! The emoji works right away and its only 0.99cents and yeah it only works on iphones to see the emoji!

I just DFU restored my jailbroken 2.2.1 iPhone and I still have them on stock. I'm not sure if it was enabled in my backup or what. I haven't installed anything that would enable it otherwise.
