Is your device registered on http://www.instamapper.com/? You do have to have a GPS signal. If it can not find a GPS signal it will not map. to know you have a GPS signal the current accuracy will show (GPS). Then it must be below what you specify in the settings tab.

When you say load the map, do you mean on your phone or on the website.
No map will show on your phone, it is simply a tool for online tracking. You have to create an account on their website. I have it on both mine and my wifes. Works great. The first time I loaded it, it did take a while, but now it loads pretty fast.

thats all the app does. It finds your location via GPS and relays it to instamapper.com. I have this a long time ago on a motorola boost phone. What its really for is real time GPS tracking via the web site. the phone is only used as to gps locator thats all. So when the program is running on ur iphone all its doing is locatiing your position and sending it to instamapper.com. What would be killer if this app was allowed to run in the background, so just incase you lost your phone. you can track it but this is not a perfect world...damn u apple...lol. but either way gps uses alot of power and using 3g or edge will only kill ur battery faster.
I use instamapper for tracking my car. I bought a $40.00 pre-paid phone and installed the instamapper software on it and ran the software on the phone, threw it in my car, now I can alway tell where my car it.
for the iphone, it doesnt make sense, but its still a cool app.

There is a free app called TrackThing Lite and it shows you your location on a map in real time. Not as good as Google Maps but sufficient.

There is also a new app called Runner which appears to draw your route on a map on the iPhone itself after you're done. But it's $5. Maybe you should wait for the reviews.

Click on "Map" and you'll see the GPS location of each photo along with a tag of the current weather conditions.
The more I go "street hiking," more photos will be added so keep checking!
