Never heard of an iPlayer app (not that that means anything ).
Perhaps on the demo model you used, somebody had bookmarked the iPlayer site to appear on their homescreen??

Are yo uaware you can only use it on wifi

Yeah it appears as if it was just a link to the site as opposed to an actual app. Apparently it's going to be available on the Nokia N96 so maybe we'll see a native app on the iPhone in the near future.

The BBC iPlayer icon on the home page is a bookmark to the website, there isn't an application in the app store for it.
