Default Apps Update Problems

I am getting an error message that says "Unable to download the application, Name of App, will be available for download when you log in to the iTunes Store on your computer."

When I log into iTunes from my computer I also get an error saying iTunes can't download the named application.

Anyone know whats causing this and what I can do to fix it? This seems to have only occurred after I loaded 2.1. I never had this problem prior to that.

Thanks.

I had this problem too, there are two options for you.

#1 - You have to delete original app from your phone then sync to itunes and put the updated app on the phone, but this erases any data (saved games, high scores, notes, etc.) This fix is not permanant though, you'll have to repeat the process for every update, very annoying.

#2 - restore. This is a permanant fix and not as scary as people make it sound. It even works if you restore from a backup so the only thing you'll lose is the order your apps were in. Just remember to put your phone on airplane mode first!

thanks for the info., I think I'll just do my first restore! Out of curiousity, why does the phone have to be in airplane mode when you restore???

it does't have to be, it's just a precaution. if someone calls or texts you while syncing or restoring it can really mess things up.......so I've heard. I do it just to be safe.

Also keep in mind that the problem may be with the App Store. I tried purchasing an app once, but the App store both on the iPhone and iTunes said something to the effect that the app was being updated, and to come back later.

Restoring won't hurt. Make sure you backup the info first and then restore to the backup. Keep in mind what I said about the app store.

You are correct. Doesn't have to be, but a call could really mess things up for you. You don't need a corruped back-up file.
