I just released an app which was approved yesterday, called easyPlanner, which is similar to the iPhone calendar, but makes it much easier to ad events because you don't need to click through a bunch of options (just type on the screen and hit save).
This is the type of app which if someone uses, he or she will probably use it every day. Does it make sense to just put an ad on it and make the app free? Will a paid app make more money? Or should I have both a paid and free version?
Does anyone have any experience with this type of stuff?
Thats a good question. I don't think there are many developers actively posting but if you want, you can send me a promo code so I can beta test for you
I'm betting that an app with an ad will make more money than an app that costs a couple bucks unless of course its a REALLY popular app like a game or something selling for $10+

I made a java game, tell me what you think.
Personally, I wouldn't use a calendar app that had a constant ad across it.
I hate ads. I would rather pay a small fee than to have ads. Maybe if you had both versions people could see how the app worked using the free one and then move on to the paid one.

I think you should do both. Normally I'll buy an app even if there is a free version. As long as the paid version don't have ads. Looking at ads all the time gets old.

May-be You like to get some market penetration with totally free ad-less version. Then develop premium version with some U$ 2.00 price tag.
