I was thinking about getting a Nike+ iPod sensor for the new iPhone 3GS, but I just had a quick question.
It's going to sound pretty stupid, but I don't know how it works. Here goes:
Do you need to have the iPod/ iPhone with you the whole run or can you store the info on the sensor and then upload it when you return home?
In other words, do you have to take the iPod with you on your run or does the sensor store data for later uploading?
Thanks a lot!

I do not have the nike+ kit, but I will be purchasing one when the new iphone comes out. From what I understand the kit consists of two main hardware pieces. One piece is the sensor that fits in your shoe. The other piece is a dongle that connects to the ipod/iphone. I believe the sensor transmits the data to the ipod/iphone dongle (via bluetooth?) and that would require you to have the ipod/iphone near you to store the data. Hope that helps and maybe someone who has experience with nike+ can chime in.
the nike+ hardware is built into the 3GS, so a dongle should not be necessary.
Go ahead, quote me. I dare you.
Before you decide to purchase the Nike+ read the reviews on the Apple Store. They are not very favorable. Apparently the battery life is really bad and a number of people have to keep buying new sensors.

Thanks for the replies, guys.
I think I'll hold off for a bit and see if they don't improve the batteries.

I've been reading up on the nike+ system and it looks as though you can replace the battery for under $5 http://www.instructables.com/id/Repl...r-for-under-5/
The Nike+ app on the 3GS works flawlessly. You don't have to attach the receiver to the docking port of the iPhone, like I did with my nano, you just need to have the sensor in your shoe and you're good to go! I don't know about the shortened battery life, but I had put on 500 miles on my first kit before I had to buy a new one.
