Default New guy- headphone upgrade planned!

Hello all!
Nice to be here and enjoy the wealth of info you all have!
I joined a few days ago and have been mooching around reading posts and learning more about the goods and bad in the 3g phone.
I have applied all available updates from apple as mine is still stock in everyway, but I have never been happy with the freq range of the headphones supplied with any gen I pod of this 3g I have. I have a wicked set of cans, Technics rp f880 that have huge drivers and deliver a stunning rich and vibrant sound- I use my i pod within the phone for practice a lot as I am a working drummer in three bands...practice is a way of life and I need to upgrade the stock for some in ears with a range of 5Hz-30kHz to match the technics as they are too big to use outside having 50mm drivers.
I know its a tall ask- but if you have a fantastic set of headphones, with an impressive range please let me know so I can consider them as a likely contender!

Thanks for the time and I hope to get to know some of you in the time ahead!
Cheers

Spirit, Welcome. It will be interesting to read the replys you get since the subject of earphones generates a lot of interest on the forum.

Welcome Spirit. I use the ultimate ears triple fi buds. See this thread for posting about a couple of other options.

Not sure if you can match the khz of over the head cans to earbuds. You could check out the really high end Shure or Ultimate Ears line for specs. Custom molds could be an option.

The khz spread on the triple fi's was 10 - 17 if I remember correctly. It is listed on the technical specs on the site in the thread I posted. I did a bit of searching and could not find any spread such as the cans you mentioned....for earbuds. I didn't look at the really high end models that cost close to $1000.

Default Thanks for the info guys!

Yup I am sure a 10k upwards will do just fine, I run my I tunes on full fat for audio quality and use kk drivers and the top of the line Audigy sound card on my music pc. I can't for the life of me imagine why Apple made such a compromise in this department- when you consider the r&d and expectations following the first gen version and it's self same type headphones
