Does anybody know if I can use my Motorola HS850 BT headset with an iPhone?

What I did was turn on BT on the iPhone. From the home screen: Settings > General > Bluetooth. Setup the headset to be discoverable (push and hold the button on the HS700 until the ring turns blue. Extend the boom mic. I believe you do the same on the HS850.) iPhone finds the headset. Enter the code for the headset. Mine was 0000. I believe that's universal for Motorola BT headsets. Ba-da-bing, ba-da-boom. DONE.

i have just posted a problem with the hs700 bluetooth and iphone. try to call someone using your bluetooth, tap the button you will not hear nothing everything is manual not like the other phones where you will hear a response after tapping the bluetooth headset like say a name or number. you will not hear this with iphone infact you will hear nothing. how does your's work? this will create a problem while driving and wanting to make a call using your bluetooth.

Hi All,
I have an iPhone 3GS given as a gift by my family (soooo nice!), but I had been using an old Verizon/Motorola V710 for seven years and got used to how everything worked. Anyway, the last piece of the puzzle is getting Bluetooth devices to work. I have an H820 and an H850. I figured out exactly how to get them both to work and here it is:

H820
-----
1. Turn Bluetooth OFF on the iPhone.
2. Power off the iPhone - completely, so you get the red slide to power it off.
3. Make sure your H820 is off - You do this by holding the button down for about ten seconds until the blue light flutters. If it was off, you just turned it on, so watch out for this. Press the button with it attached to your ear so you can be sure it's off.
4. Power on your iPhone (20 seconds or so).
5. Select SETTINGS the GENERAL then BLUETOOTH.
6. BLUETOOTH should say "off" on the right hand status. If not, start over from step 1.
7. Press and hold the button on your H820 until you get the blue light flutter and immediately slide BLUETOOTH to the ON position on the iPhone.
8. You will get, within a few seconds, a status of "Not Paired." Not to worry, as this will change to "Connected" on its own.

I haven't figured out how to issue commands from the headset, but it is enough for me to be able to speak hands-free using the H820. When you move out of range, the pairing remains configured, and when you move back into range and the H820 is on, it reconnects automatically. When you make a call or deal with anything that requires audio, the iPhone asks you if you want to use Motorola H820, iPhone, or Speaker. Not bad

H850

This little BT headset has been a pain in my arse ever since I got it, but it is a good set and has been quite serviceable. This is a little tricker because you need about eleven fingers to do this, but it absolutely works.

Here's how to set it up:

1. Turn Bluetooth OFF on the iPhone.
2. Power off the iPhone - completely, so you get the red slide to power it off.
3. Make sure your H850 is off - You do this by flipping the microphone piece closed.
4. Power on your iPhone (20 seconds or so).
5. Select SETTINGS the GENERAL then BLUETOOTH.
6. BLUETOOTH should say "off" on the right hand status. If not, start over from step 1.
7. WITH THE H850 CLOSED (this is the key) Press and hold the button on your H820 until you get a solid blue light and then immediately slide BLUETOOTH to the ON position on the iPhone and at the same time open the H850's microphone piece so it is turned on.
8. The iPhone will go into discovery mode, but within a few seconds (10-20) it will recognize the Motorola H850 on the left and get a status of "Not Paired" on the right. Not to worry, as this will change to "Connected" on its own.

The fit and comfort of a bluetooth headset is a highly personal matter. What feels good to one person is unusable to another. Without knowing the geometry of your ears and your sensitivity to pressure.
