It seems battery manufacturers haven't agreed to a too-high price point and are actually competing with each other. I wish the case manufacturers would follow suit ... $30 for a hunk of plastic is simply ridiculous.

I agree 100%. You have to be nuts to spend $30 for a case. The most I've spent on a case was $10 and it was a Griffin with a special lens that allows the camera to take closeups. There are quite a few sites that sell cases very, very cheap (less than $6) and they're not bad!!

Well I spent $30 on the Innocase II because it's the best But I agree with you. The thing is really worth $5 to the end consumer, tops.

I also have a $5 iSkin Solo knockoff that I'm enjoying very much.

While I agree that the prices are outrageous, you simply cannot ignore good protection. I have a slider on my case and I have accidentally dropped my phone 3 times now- the worst in a tile floored bathroom. Not a scratch.

Oh, the case definitely pays for itself when you drop your 3GS on the base commissary floor and the iPhone doesn't have a scratch on it.
