Mili phone suit - battery pack problems

I just received the replacement unit for a Mili Phone Suit battery pack - great looking product, feels great in your hand. Similar to Mophie Juicepack.
Could be very useful given all those battery issues people are having after the updates.
HOWEVER - it does not work with my 3GS. It is not consistently charging the phone and I keep getting the "Device not supported" message with the yellow triangle on a regular basis. Last night when I had in on the phone and being plugged in and charged, it litterally sucked the juice out of the phone itself and battery life went from 100% to less than 10% on the Iphone kinda funny actually - the reverse charger / drainer - expensive though for $80.
It is not my phone, same issue with the first unit sent to me, same issue with my wife's 3GS.
They advertise it for 3GS.
Anyone tried the product and having issues?
