ipod car mount with iphone... not working

Yesterday I purchased this device:

Its a car mount that secures your ipod/iphone in place, charges, and has a FM mod. that transmits music to the radio.

Well, it holds the iphone snug, its charges the iphone as well, and looks killer. I have a blk incase rubber case for the iphone and adds to the look.

However, I cannot seem to get it to play through the speakers of the car. I went through all the selectable channels but no dice.

Anyone used this product of something like that might help me figure out what I'm doing wrong?

PS: i just went out now and nope, i cannot get the music to play through the stereo.

I drive a hummer H2 with nav and Xm. Could it be the actual radio or the unit itself? I also tested the iphone on my brothers integrated ipod kit for his car. That worked, charged and played the music.

certain ipod accessories just don't work with this phone, I just tried something similar to what you have and can't get it to work, whereas it worked great with my past 6 iPod's from g3 up.

it would seem there is something with the current software in iPhone won't allow to use these products.

For example, yesterday I went out to the apple store, great customer service by the way, and with some doubt, I purchased a car mount much like the one I had prior. It's from belkin and is compatible with all Ipod models. Well, it needs the software in ipod to switch though the selecteable radio stations.

So there les lies our problem, iPhone doesn't have the necesary software to control such a device. If we wanted to use somethng like this, the transmitter has to have the controls for the radio stations and most likely get the signal from the headphone jack, not the port on the bottom.
