Post IPhone Apple AV composite cable Review

System: Iphone 3G

Firmware: 2.1 jailbreaked

Purpose: Testing TV-Out function

Tested: iphone video MP4 with resolution 640*480, photo album and ipod music player

I bought the AV composite cable from Apple for 3G iphone.

I don't have HD TV, so I use composite Cable.

Insert all video (yellow) and audio (red and white) connectors into their appropriate port on your TV receiver.

Plug the USB connector into USB power adaptor to keep it charged

Plug the dock connector into Iphone 3G

Go to Video 2 mode on your TV (depends on what TV you have), and then go to Ipod, select your movie and you can start watching ipod video on your TV.

Results:

I use resolution of 640*480 video, works great. The video quality is NOT perfect but it is pretty good. Wide screen video will have a slight cut off on right and left side. (Turn off wide screen mode if possible)

Photo album can be played as slide show + music playing in the background (man, TV-Out is so fun)

Overall, this is a pretty good product even its very expensive for a cable. (Just blame Steve Jobs for implementing a chip to locked users to use Apple brand expensive cable)

Also, I heard that no 3rd party program will work with Iphone 3G firmware 2.1 or 2.2. Post one that work if you find one.

Thank you for reading

What exactly works with it? From what I've read, any videos played via quicktime or youtube work, and third-party support is not yet available. Can you browse photos on your TV?
