Default I need a "holder" that also charges.

OK, I took my car to a stero store and had them add in this cord that played my ipod music through the stereo. (It's NOT an FM transmistter, it connects straight to the stereo) Now, this player thing plugs into the bottom of the ipod or iphone. It can also charge my ipod, but DOESN"T charge the 3G iphone.

I am thinking my best solution is to get a cradle for the car that will also charge my phone, however I will also need it to have an "opening" where it charges the phone to allow for the playing of music. Am I making sense? Here are some pics so You know what I am talking about.

That's how I plug the iPhone into the car to play it. I need a charger that will plug in there, but leave an opening to allow for that plug to still attatch to the phone.

You may want to check these holders out.

Those look like awesome mounts, but they dont have an integrated charger that would also allow me to use the iphone as an ipod in my car.

So it looks like with your set up your audio is going out of the usb charger port. Correct?

Good luck with that. Since you can't plug two things into the usb port at once I can't imagine an easy solution. I would go back to the car stero installer. Perhaps they have another usb cable that will work with both the iPod and iPhone. Or maybe they can install another stereo cable that goes from your headphone jack into the car stereo.
