Default Help! Need car charger with line out for 3g

I currently have a Belkin, but it won't charge the 3g due to FireWire pin. I need a suggestion on a charger that'll charge 3g and has a line out for my aux input in car.

Thanks
Donald

I'm looking for one too. The Griffin Autopilot appears to fit the bill, but it has compatibility issues. Griffin says so right in their support docs, where they list 'partial' compatibility.

If you find something, please report back.

I just bought one of those usb plugs that goes in the lighter. My Pioneer Nav unit has an ipod adapter, and it did charge my v1 iPhone, but it would not charge the 3G. It does allow me to control the 3G.

You can always use the earphone jack for the aux out.

Well, true, you can use the headphone jack. But there are two problems with that.

First, a true line out jack should deliver better sound quality. And will typically provide a higher volume signal.

Second, it's a pain to have to plug in two cables, and manage routing two cables. Just provides a much cleaner solution.

I agree. My setup now is extremely clean looking. I couldn't stand having more wires to hide.
With the belkin I can still get line out, but no power.

I'm sure that soon the accessory makers will catch up.

I think the griffin autopilot will work, but it'll ask if you want to enter airplane mode. My belkin does this too but no bigdeal.
The autopilot is expensive, and I've heard the line out level is low.

The autopilot is okay, I have had one since my belkin broke mid-v1 ownership. It will ask you to go into airplane mode, which explains the "partial" compatability. The volume is good, though you cant expect to get a whole lot out of a line out. Until someone comes out with a better solution, this is what you might have to use.

Had one of those 'doh' moments and checked the Apple store web site. They have a Kensington LiquidAUX unit listed there:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/TR...r&mco=NzYwMjY2

$79. Ouch. But it does come with a wireless remote. (Cool, but useless to me.)

And a more expensive deluxe version with a mount/dock, for $99.

Not listed specifically as 3G compatible, but several reviewers are claiming it works fine with no error messages.
