How is the dock itself? I loved the way the Sony unit works, it accepts the dock inserts but does not require their use, instead its got an adjustable "backstop" for lack of better term, that is adjustable and supports your iPhone or iPod from behind. I like this concept because I want to use my click wheel 3rd gen iPod in addition to my iPhone, and I have two different cases for the iphone (the Sony unit accepts the iPhone even with the bulkier of my 2 cases).

Dock is fine, it comes with a handful of different sized "inserts" or "adapters" for the dock. I use one of the smaller ones, I like the tighter fit. With no "insert" or "adapter" in place, the slot is wide enough that my iphone with vaja case on will fit, nice bonus! It does come with a remote though, so once my phone is docked I don't really need to touch it except to take it off. The remote controls all ipod functions of the phone (and ipod I'm assuming...).

That's a good solution Dave, but it probably wouldn't work for me since I switch between the iPod and iPhone and I swap cases on the iPhone from weekday to weekend.

Oh, it's also made for a 3g, so no airplane mode screens or any compatiblility issues at all. This clock-radio has surpassed all my expectations, and I was pretty gun-shy about dropping $100 on an alarm clock, well worth it though.

Quick question, does this have a battery backup for the time/alarm?

Thanks for your suggestion on this unit...I plan on getting one very soon. $72 on Amazon today.

I still have been reluctant to find a good projection alarm clock that works with iPod Touch 2G. The one I currently have projects the time beautifully on the wall, works great with my iPod Nano but the Touch pukes on it. So sad about the incompatibility.

    Just checked Amazon.ca. None available.
And Ihome will not ship to CA.

Destined not to get this one
Do you have a Costco nearby? I saw the IP9BR for $79. I tried my iPhone 3G in it and it worked fine, with no airplane mode nag screen.

    Hey
Thanks for looking around for me. We live very near a Costco. The only one they are carrying is a Philips and a Teac. Did check their website but the ip9 is not listed. I'm hoping as the next couple of months go by, there will be some new ones coming out. I really do feel like we get the shaft up here. If anyone from Canada visits this site, chime in and give me some good alternatives.

I found one of those yesterday (actually they still had 4 of them.)
$50 and it sounds great.....Unfortunately when I drop my iTouch in the cradle, I get: "Charging is not supported with this accessory."

    Everything else works superbly, however.

i picked up this IHome model at Wal-Mart for $27.00 the other day. It doesn't say it works with Iphone, but I got it and the only problem I have is when I dock the phone it says it isn't compatible and asks if I want to do airplane mode and I just choose no.
