Default Bose not Clockradio

I don't think there is anything comparible to the Bose in a clockradio unit. If there is, for the love of everything sacred, please let me know. The closest thing I can find that might be remotely available to me is the IP99. If it weren't for that nag screen, ( and this was new right out of the box in the store) I would have purchased it right then and there. And it was 159.00 CAD.

ornurse,

I just checked my iPhone 3G in both of my daughter's IP99BX models. Neither one of them triggered the nag screen. My daughters have said that neither of them have been getting the nag screen either with their iPhone 3Gs.

Maybe the unit you tested was an early model. I bought the ones for my daughters a few weeks ago as previously mentioned in this thread. They were shipped directly from iHome... so they may have been a higher manufacturing version.

I just checked and the $99 program is gone... but they are still available for the normal price of $129.

/Jim (who still prefers the Bose)

For what it's worth, we ended up with the IP99BX, and my wife never gets the nag screen. I get it occasionally with mine, but it never affects performance, unless we're listening to AM radio. In that case, you can hear GSM interference from the AM antenna, but I don't think any AM radio will pass the GSM test.

I do not know what triggers the Airplane mode nag screen, but I think it's a temporary short that can occur if you have a little dust in your dock or even if you just slide it into the dock unevenly. Other than the minor annoyance of having to hit "no", I wouldn't worry about it affecting your audio performance.

Default Trying to get one

The only place to buy one of these right now in Canada that I can see right now is Bestbuy, and they appear to be out of stock. Future shop carries the Zune version only. Maybe in a few months when Bestbuy restocks, they will have the new version without the nag.

So I tried directly to the source on the Ihome website, their website states that they are accepting credit cards for US only and no debit cards. Which makes it difficult for me. Maybe I'll try calling them tomorrow.
Wish me luck

Have you tried Amazon? Surely they ship to Canada...

Default Will look into it

Cool I'll check them out, never ordered from Amazon before. I'm going to call Ihome first though and see if I can get them to make an exception. That way I will more likely get one fresh off the line.

Just checked Amazon.ca. None available.
And Ihome will not ship to CA.

Destined not to get this one

In particular, I'm interested in the display brightness. I just bought the Sony ICF-C1ipmk2, which I like alot, but the display is keeping me awake at night, so its got to go back.

I've read alot of reviews about the Logitech, but other than one pointing out that the display is orange, and not red, but I haven't seen anything (good or bad) about the display brightness.

Since I can't find this unit in stock in any B&M store, I thought I'd ask you guys...

Thanks in advance!!
I have it and I love it!!! It has three brightness settings, and the motion activated snooze is awesome!!! I would highly recommend this clock-radio!

Oh, it's also made for a 3g, so no airplane mode screens or any compatiblility issues at all. This clock-radio has surpassed all my expectations, and I was pretty gun-shy about dropping $100 on an alarm clock, well worth it though.

ps - the display is orange. Only the time lights up, all the buttons stay off until you wave your hand over the unit. I keep mine on the middle brightness setting and it is very subtle, the display is pretty small, it doesn't fill the room with light at all.

Thanks for your response!

How is the dock itself? I loved the way the Sony unit works, it accepts the dock inserts but does not require their use, instead its got an adjustable "backstop" for lack of better term, that is adjustable and supports your iPhone or iPod from behind. I like this concept because I want to use my click wheel 3rd gen iPod in addition to my iPhone, and I have two different cases for the iphone (the Sony unit accepts the iPhone even with the bulkier of my 2 cases).

I like that about the Sony as well. My solution to get similar stability with the dock on the iHome was to tape two small craft popsicle sticks in the back. The phone feels really solid and slides in easily.
