    Car Audio/Data Cable Question!

I currently use a standard AUX cable that travels out the back of my cd player, and the other end of the chord is inserted into the iphone headphone jack. The sound quality is awesome (I mainly use the Slacker radio app). Basically I want to be able to charge my phone, and listen to hard wire music, using one chord, rather than having stuff pop out of both ends. I do have some kind of data plug next to the AUX in the back of the CD player as well. Is there a chord I can purchase that will play music the music with the same quality as the regular AUX in, but instead of going into the headphone jack, it would plug into the charge port?

Also, supposing the chord does exist, would calls project over my speakers…this doesn’t currently happen and obviously the speakerphone is god awful. I’m sure I would be able to speak to people just fine, but hearing them is another issue. Thanks for any help/advice!

As a side note, I don't want to get an entire mount as I have rigged one up myself.

Depending on the type of car/stereo you have, you can use a USA Spec unit. It plugs into the back of my stereo and has 2 outputs that I use for my iPhone and my Satellite radio. The iPhone cord charges my phone and allows me to play songs plus I can control everything from my steering wheel controls. In certain "modes" it allows you to play up to 5 different playlists. Anything that comes in over the phone gets played on your car speakers. So I hear my phone ring from my stereo and if I pick up the call I hear the caller from my speakers. Also on certain car models it will display the text of your song on your stereo.

    Pretty cool little system.

The $20 dollar option is the Griffin Auto Pilot. See my review of it in the iPhone accessories section. Works great, if you don't mind the "This accessory is not made to work with the iPhone...." error message.
here's a video of my setup, 70% complete. get a drink and some popcorn, it's long...

How are you able to hear phone calls through your speaker? I have the USA Spec for my honda accord and while I can hear the phone ring, when i answer it goes into "privacy mode"...in other words, I have to hold it to my ear to hear the person on the other end.

You're right... my fault. I haven't used that feature in a long time since I got my Parrot Slim. The call comes in and I hear the ring on the speakers but when I pick up it goes to the speaker on my Parrot.

Back in the day I just had to put them on speaker.
