at the beginning of that keynote, steve said they had a special board in that iphone in order to demo it. to me, that indicated it was really a special prototype made specifically for demonstration purposes. they could add it in the future, but i think that might require a hardware change. and i think it really depends on the whole ipod line-up and their overall direction. if they add video capability to the nano line, i think they're more likely to add video out to the full range of ipod products (excluding the shuffle, of course), and potentially the iphone. otherwise, video provides good differentiation between products and better "perceived value" for those who don't need a phone but need an ipod with video capability.
