If you're the type of person that feels that headphones are headphones, then the $10 variety off of eBay is fine.

But, those who want more than stock headphones find that it can get pretty expensive. I've bought $30 headphones which are only slightly better than stock. $100 headphones are that price for a reason. I've seen $200 headphones.

Yeah headphones can start getting expensive especially when you look at higher end sennheiser, grados, etc. Some models can cost 500 dollars. Then there are the electrostatic headphones which can easily approach and surpass the 1000 dollar mark. However, if future shop is charging 100 dollars for just regular headphones then I think they need to rethink their pricing.

Your mistake was walking into futureshop. Everything's gonna be marked up to all hell. You could probably get the same headphones for half the price online.

However, even $100 headphones have their place. I usually stay away from the cheap stuff ($10~) cause they never last. I just bought a Sony DR-BT50 bluetooth headset for $200 (all in) but hopefully the quality and wireless freedom is worth it (my most expensive headphone purchase thus far).

I've got Shure headphones and paid a good penny. Well worth the sound. I can hear no one but my music. I've got the cable that switches phone/ipod, which turns the music off when it's time to answer phone.

Im not an audiophile, and I used to be fine with the headphones Apple gives us, in fact I thought they were pretty good quality. Now I hate them and am starting to hear how bad they are. I am going to try the $79 in ear headphones Apple made once they come out.

I've never been satisfied by the stock Apple headphones. The sound quality isn't terrible but they just hurt my ears as soon I put them in. I love my V-Moda Vibe Duos, they're great and at just about the $100 mark.

apple headphones do suck. They hurt like hell, but the worst part is that they don't block out external sound. So In order to hear your music in a relatively loud environment, you've gotta crank the volume... Which is leading to major hearing loss in our generation.

You're on your iPhone, aren't you Hip? I encounter the same, awesome auto-corrections.

AOL just had an article about the dangers of using headphones while on a plane or train. Because the ambient noise is so much louder on these moving vehicles, iPod and other portable device users crank up the volume on their devices and often lead to dangerous levels of sound. I make it a point to never go about 50% on my iPod. If I can't hear it at that point then I just figure I don't need to be listening to anything.
