Default 3G/Is any USB car charger ok?

I'm sure it's been asked before but I can't find the answer.

Is any USB car charger ok to use with the 3g? I have this one that I used to use with my video iPod. I'd rather not buy a new one if I don't have to.

Thanks for the help.

It works....I just want to make sure it won't fry the battery.

If I recall some of the FM transmitter cradles that charged and the Bose speaker dock were known for frying iPhones.

I though I read somewhere a while back that anything that charged via a USB cable was safe, but now I can't find that reference.

I'm not sure how many of the chargers will fry the battery but make sure that it says (specifically) that it is compatible with the iPhone 3G. I tried using my v1 car charger with the 3G and it said that the device was not compatible and wouldn't charge. I had to buy another one which was really annoying.
