Default 3GS wont reboot

I have a 3GS that is stuck on the reboot cycle. Im trying to restore in iTunes, and iTunes is saying "waiting for iphone" and the iPhone has the progress bar and white apple shown. However, the progress bar just isnt moving? I have had it plugged in now for 20 mins.

Any ideas on how to get it to reboot? Ive tried it on a mac, pc, DFU mode, safe mode, pwnage tool.

Just always seems to hang at this point.

Don't panic.

I assume you've tried the obvious by doing a hard-reset.

Is it simply powering up to the apple screen then turning off?

It was stuck in a reboot cycle, so I opened iTunes and tried to restore. iPhone just hangs at the progress bar - doesnt switch off or anything. iTunes says waiting for iphone. If i unplug it, I get iTunes error 9

My iPhone simply wont boot?

Can you not hard-reset it with it the usb cable plugged in?

This happened to my 3G and I sh*t myself. Are you trying to restore because of a problem.. can you explain what happened, which may be the cause of the problem?

Ok, I had to restore and re jailbreak my 3GS today. I use ifunbox so i needed to install afc2add from cydia.

Did all that, rebooted and then my phone was stuck in a reboot cycle. No biggie I thought, I just tried to restore using iTunes and DFU / safe mode etc.

I have now tried almost every time of restore possible and nothing gets my iPhone past the apple logo with the white progress bar - it doesnt progress at all - not even 1 %

Yup, several times. If I take it into a genius, they would at least have to restore it to get it working right, meaning even if they did manage to get it on, it would wipe the JB?

Depending on what type of diagnostic tools they have and if they manage to restore it, you would be totally clear of any jailbreak.

It sounds as if the file you installed via cydia has corrupted you're device, at least it's a heads-up so we stay away from it.
