can anyone suggest a good video recording app for my iphone?

tries app store and didn't find anything(of course I might not be looking in the right place.)

Assuming you have a 3G, you would need to jailbreak your iPhone and look in Cydia for non-Apple approved applications. One pretty good video app is Cycorder.
