Hi wpeterson,

Thanks for your post.

My purpose is to bring my office files in my IPhone as a mini Computer. This would have help me not to carry my 17" laptop around.

I am very much disappointed with the IPhone limited abilities as an advanced unit ! My previous IMate JAMA was better with the Microsoft software for mobile on.

Cheers,
Judex.

Best app for storing files on your phone.

Hi styfle,

Thanks for your post.

I heard about Air Sharing, but I cannot buy it from Apple Store. The reason is that Mauritius Telecom/ORANGE has not yet finalized agreements. So, I cannot creat an account at Apple Store.

I tried to check at Air Shairing and still could not buy the application from them. They drove me back to Apple Store.

I am in a vicious circle. Do you remember the song "There's a hole in my bucket, dear Lisa, dear Lisa" ! Every thing I try, I just get back to Apple Store where I cannot create an account for the reason I mentioned.

I heard about "Jailbreaking the IPhone" . Can Somebody help me ?

Thank you.

Cheers !
Judex.

There are many applications from the app store, just look into Utilities or business, but the best app I have for this is called Air Sharing. Wirelessly allows you to sync documents onto your iPhone. Nothing to download onto your computer, no sign up, you can protect your files with a password and even do a public sharing system so all the computers on your network can access the files. It costs $5.99 (AUD).

I have also been lamenting the same problems coming from Windows Mobile as I am a heavy business user. Luckily I have been using a couple of solutions until Dataviz releases Documents To Go for the iPhone.

The first one, as a previous poster said, is a program called Files. It allows me to transfer any files I need to my phone via WiFi. Unfortunately, you can only view but not edit, nor email from your phone.

So the second solution I use is Log Me In for the iPhone. This allows me to access my laptop wirelessly from my iPhone, or any other computer, and work with (view, edit, email) the files right from my iPhone.

However, as a long-time Docs To Go user, I can't wait for them to release it for the iPhone.

Hope this helps.

Hi IPhonemonster,

Thank you for your post.

Unfortunately I cannot create an account with Apple Store because Mauritius Telecom/ORANGE has not yet finalized agreements (with Apple Store) though they introduced the IPhone on 19th December 2008.

Thanks,
Judex

Hi Rick 76,

Thank you for your post.

How can I buy the Docs to GO ? If I should buy it from Apple Store, then It will be impossible for the time being. Mauritius Telecom/ORANGE has not yet finalized agreements with the Apple Store.

If I can buy Docs to GO from the third party, this will help me a lot. Do I need to jailbreak my IPhone for that ?

Thanks to help. What is the site from where I could buy Docs to GO ?

Cheers,
Judex.

Unfortunately, Documents To Go will most likely be sold only through iTunes once it is released. I am not sure if it will be available through 3rd party vendors to be used on a jailbroken phone.

Hi Patrockj,

Thanks for your post.

My problem is that I cannot create an account at Apple Store so that I may buy the applications. It appears that Mauritius Telecom/ORANGE has not yet finalized an agreement with Apple Store.

Thanks,
Judex.
