Default Song Recognition

Does anyone know if the 3G iphone can do song recognition by holding it up to a speaker? Or if there will be an app. for this?

I remember a phone doing this a while back, seemed like a pretty neat idea. Nothing of the sort has been mentioned for the new iPhone 3G but Kevlar is right, with 4,000 Apps available at the iTunes App Store you very well might luck out and be able to buy such an app.

A lot of phones actually do this.

My BlackBerry does and my old Moto Q did too.

There was an iPhone app that did it too. It was pulled once the database owner found it was being used without payment. I think it was written by Erica.

It was called Listen and it is to date my favorite app ever made for iPhone. It only lasted about a week before it got shut down but that week was the funnest week of my iPhone's life, it never got a song wrong, not even the crappy ones on Mexican radio.

There's a good chance that an app like this will be available on the 11th - what with 4,000 apps out there - and if not, there's quite a good chance of it coming in the future.
