Default Quick JB question.....

Hi all,

Im sitting here about to jailbreak my 3.0 phone with redsn0w but theres one thing thats not mentioned in any of the tutorials.....

Do i need to run restore in itunes to set my iphone back to being a blank 3.0 phone, before running redsn0w?

And if so, can i run 'restore from backup' in itunes after i have jailbroken to give me back all my contatcs, sms, photos etc? Or will that muck up the jailbreak?

Your help would be much appreciated
Luke

In my experience it's always best to restore to stock firmware before jailbreaking.

Also, I always setup my iPhone as new in iTunes when I'm finished with the jailbreak. Then, I just sync my contacts, calendar, photo's, music, apps, etc. back in to my iPhone. I never restore from a previous backup.

I've always come across a problem or two when restoring from a backup or not doing a stock restore before jailbreaking. But other people may have had success.
