Default Purchased iphone from Craig's list, i don't know if it's a 3GS

Hi,

I purchased an iphone 3GS 32 Gb white from CL. How do I know that this is a 3GS and not a 3G. The box says 3GS but nothing on the phone says 3GS.

1.) The back of the phone does not say whether it's 1,2,3or 3gs only says Iphone 32 GB.

2.) I can't find the compass icon on the opening screen. If not the home screen i have tried the pther pages and still can't find the compass icon.

I should have no problem returning this to the seller if it's not a 3GS.

Pls. advice as to how I can tell the 3GS from the 3G.

Thanks,
G

Is all the printing on the back reflective chrome (not white)? If so, it's a 3GS.

32GB says, to me, that it is indeed a 3GS. There was never a 32GB 3G.

Thanks Dave. The apple logo is relfective chrome but the printing on the bottom is not chrome but not white as well. It's kind faded grey.

So, your saying that there is no such 32GB 3G, this says 32GB so i'm petty safe it's a 3GS. Seller also showed me the GB capacity to show that it was in fact 32GB and it did show

BUT

where is the compass icon.

Thanks,
G

The seller said that it is unlocked but when i inserted my T-mobile sim it kept saying searching.....no network. So, I'm not quite sure.

BUT,

What if it the compass icon did get deleted, is that a big problem, can i get it back again??

I jsut want to make sure I have a 3GS and if not I will return it asap.

If it's not unlokced then i can easily have it done as well but I first want to make sure i'ts a 3GS and that is why I was looking for the compass icon to confirm that it's a 3GS.

Thanks,
G

Go to settings/general/usage. Is there a "Battery Percentage" option at the top? If there is, it's a 3GS.

Don't all 3GS iphones have a compass? Just check for that. Does it have a video camera? These apps are only on the 3gs

If you go to settings, it should be this in order:

Airplane Mode
Wi-Fi
Notifications

Sounds
Brightness
Wallpaper

General
Mail, contacts, Calendars
Phone
(Etc...)
